There is a question you have not said out loud, possibly for years, and you have learned to keep the conversation away from the places it could come up. You have served. You have given. You know the words to the songs. And you do not know whether any of it is yours.
Nobody here is going to shame you for asking. The question is a better sign than the confidence you have been performing.
